Default Cobalt Friction Brake Pads

I have mentioned Cobalt Friction as a viable alternative brake pad for GT3's. Yesterday I changed tires on my 6GT3 and checked the pads. The fronts new are 18mm and mine were right at 50% or 9mm. The rears new are 16.5mm and mine were right at 50% or 8.5mm. This after 3 days at Sebring, 2 days at Autobahn, 2 days at Road America, and 1 day at Roebling Road.

I run the XR2 compound both front and rear. Don't have current cost as my last set was purchased Dec 2010 but they were $350 front and $250 rear. Photo is from the front.

http://www.cobaltfriction.com/ They are redoing the website but I just worked with Andie by email for a set of pads for da Boss.

Andie Lin is a GOOD guy. I've known him for over a decade, although I've never used Cobalt pads. He would be on my list of guys to get tech info or parts from. I wonder, does he still have his Home Depot NSX?

I heard these are good and saw some teams at the Rolex 24hr using them.

That's impressive. Less expensive than PFC with much better wear. I get about 6 days out of a set of PFC 08's.

How is the braking? Do they transfer a lot of heat, ie require constant bleeding? I do like that you can run PFC's to the backing plate with no change in performance and I only bleed because it's good prev maint, not because I have to. Running motul 660 with good success.

I like the braking very progressive. Run RBF600 and only bleed when I change pads. Never run a set to the backing plates as unusually change when they get to around 3mm.

Does Andie work at Cobalt? Or do you go through another retailer?

Andie works for Cobalt, I have always dealt direct with Cobalt as their dealer network is not real good. If you go to the Cobalt website and shoot a message to service@cobaltfriction.com you will reach Andie.
