Default GT3 (Non-RS) Camber adjustment question...

What factors do you consider/How do you determine what thickness of shims to use in order to increase front camber beyond the maximum possible without? Or would anyone work, 1,2,3,5, 7mm? Pros and Cons?
Car is a '11 GT3 (235/305-19, OEM Cups). Thanks.

You rotate strut tops to get beyond 2.0 degrees but will lose about 1 degree of caster in doing so. Which is where the shims come in--they add both camber and caster.

I'm not familiar with your specific setup but generally a 5mm shim with rotated strut top gets you 2.0-2.5 degrees camber and 8-8.5 degrees of caster. I personally try to avoid over-shimming the LCAs as thick shims=less thread for the two mounting bolts to bite on.

Tx CRex! I thought this was simple... was I wrong! I got my front to -1.9 w/o doing anything else but I'm still showing no wear on the inside of my Cups -and wearing the center and outside. Car feels good but at $1000 a pop for the front-end with Cups, experimenting is a little costly :-)

Horstair, I just started to use the Michelin Sport Cups and am running -2.4 front and -1.9 rear. I've found that I need a tad bit more negitive camber for these MPSC tires. The fronts are wearing ok but I will change my settings to -2.5 front and -2.0 rear and see how that works out. I was talking with some Michelin guys back in October during a PBOC evnet at Daytona and they suggested -2.5 and -2 as the minimum for MPSC...depending on driver, suspension and track.

Mike, how did you get to -2.4F? Does your GTS have the GT3 lower control arms or did you put them in? Did you rotate the top and/or use shims? If shims, how much/many? I have -2.0R and that seems to give me even wear. Like you, I'm shooting for -2.5F. My suspension is all stock . I'm not the most aggressive driver and I should be okay with -2.0F/-2.5R. At my current -1.9F, the wear for the outside and the middle is just too much. If the tire was less $$, maybe okay but not at $2500 including M&B... Horst.

Horst, I had gt3 lower control arms installed on my GTS...I can't rotate struts on my car as my shocks are not adjustable like GT3 shocks are. I have 1 thick shim to get my camber but the bolts are plenty long...but what Rex says yes be careful with lots of shims.
