I started out a little above the red area, drove about 10 miles or so, and then stopped for gas.
Only put in 3 gallons. Car gas gauge didn't change at all, and ignored the extra fuel that I put in. (Range was about 40 mls when I filled up with the 3 gallons, and then went to 39 mls for the range remaining and also lit the ! in the dic.
I looked in the manual and it said that if the fuel was low, and you added a small quantity of fuel that the car wouldn't register it.
If I add a small quantity at a time like just a couple of gallons....will the car eventually realize it or because I am using small amounts each time----the car won't register it ?
Trying to keep fuel low for autocross action.
Thanks,

Noticed from my experience that it ignores small additions of fuel whilst you are in the fuel warning stage if they don't bring it up to a level where it is above red light scenario... Stopped once and added $10 worth of fuel coz i was in a hurry and car was red lighting. It didn't register. Stopped about 20 min later when I was done doing what I needed to do, added another $15 worth to see if it would register and having gone just above warning light level, it did...

I run very competitive national autox events.....but you are probably right the 35lbs won't mean much, as long as I don't loose by .006 (Of course I could lose by 2 seconds plus.....or by .006).

35 lbs would have given my co-driver a National Championship, even 20 lbs would have given him the championship.
I ran out of fuel on my last run at the 2010 SCCA Solo Nationals, a little calculation error, less than 10 secs to the finish line.
