Default Dealer says Porsche redesigned coolant fittings for 10/11 GT cars

At dealer today for some work on the RS. We have been having a discussion since my region issued a requirement this year for GT1 based cars to either run water wetter or have coolant lines tapped. They told me today that the fitting was lengthened and redesigned for the 10/11 cars and is twice as long as previously in the area that is epoxied. And that the inside has a hook type design so that if there were a failure, it would be a small leak, not a massive loss. Has anyone heard of this? Are there documented failures on the 10/11 GT cars?

We have an event at the dealer this Saturday night and if I heard it correctly, there is going to be a Porsche rep there to show us the redesign. I will ask when I go back to pick up the car to be clear.

I guess the key is do the 10/11 redesigned fitting work on the pre 2010 cars?

Also, does the redesign tell us that they realize the old way was faulty? (e.g., warranty, TSB, recall, etc)

In my mind it would at least add ammo that they recognized an issue and took action.

Gents, nothing new in the PET's last update (most fittings are not sold as independent parts and have no number, but the few sockets I can see in the 4L RS still start from 996), no recall and nothing in the PIWIS.

But I'll grab some corn.. just in case.

You'll need a bigger bag than that:

Talked to my service advisor again to clarify. He said yes- there was a production change on the fittings in 2009. He has ordered a set and will show them to us Saturday night. The Porsche rep will be at our end of March tech session to show them again. He ordered the set so that we can see the difference.

If twice as long on fitting where epoxied does it actually go all the way in? Looking at the DIY pics on this board I don't think there's any room unless they changed the female member as well. I'm curious to see where this goes. Mike

There are no "hooks" on 10+

As to difference in length, I will let a .1 knowledgeable person speak up.
