Hoosiers are not much faster than RA1s. Maybe when they are a fresh (first 3 heat cycles), they have a slight advantage but no way thereafter.

could always use both the 4.0L and fresh hoosiers (in their first 3 cycles)

Just to clear up the confusion about another car (3.8) which was referred to in this thread, my black RS 4.0, subject of the OP, is still available.

Maybe you're just driving the Hoosiers like the RA1's (lots of slip angle) rather than they way you need to drive Hoosiers (not nearly as much slip angle, much more precisely).
