It's not the same car you and I could buy, purpose built with tube frame just like the mazda!

sorry to go OT in the OT thread, but here is another option to consider.
Different approach though...

Very good observation as they had me take note during the race however truth is they are one off tube frame cars just like the grand-am mazda. They both do not share tub or suspension points of the street car.

the porsche maintains the same tub and suspension location points as the street car.

the ferrari, mustang and viper also share the same body as the street car.

If you can get one at sticker, I figure the 500 will be $70K with the right options and of course Ford knows this is the king mustang so it will have to crush the boss 302 and that is saying something in this price range.

the base 5.0 stang is as fast as an m3 with pobst driving at a nor cal track (cannot remember which one)
The 302 is faster
the 302 laguna seca is faster still
then the 500 will have to eclipse the 302 LS

I believe ford will sell out of the gt 500 just by nature of the car and what the payment will be... if it posts a ring time in the low 7:30s or better then it literally fly off the shelves and possibly earn Ford some take away customers.

This kind of power and handling war is good for the entire performance car industry... even engineers in germany have to consider their performance offereings in the USA when a guy can throw down in a pony car for usually far less money.

a ZL1 "laguna seca" style edition would be nice to see... get it down to 3-3200 lbs, with that susp and that power... weight is holding it back from a 7:30s ring time IMHO

One thing is for certain, the GT500 loves to suck back the fuel on boost

I can barely get 200miles to a tank on my 500hp shelby on the street...

very good observations indeed. Lots of differences to these to stay with at daytona. PLUS 1 TCSracing.
