Hey there is always the MB E63 AMG wagon? But me, I'm conflicted;
1) I'm a BMW guy
2) no man. tran. choice
3) you have to extra for the AMG Performance Package!
And on a positive note
1) it will seat seven in a pinch
2) you can order carbon brakes.
3) euro del. discount
4) MB Designo program allows cool leather choices and even matt paint.

according to the dealer I spoke to there is no ED discount on the E63 AMG since it is special order, and when I priced one out, even without carbon brakes or the perf pkg it was about 100k ... (LSD, CF trim that's about it)
I did have dreams of spanking it around the ring in May ... but ...
it looks as though I will be going for the 2013 X5M ... its about $15k cheaper than the AMG ... and just as powerful!
its not a wagon, which I would much prefer ... but what are you going to do?
there is of course the M-B E350 4Matic wagon, but its a bit dull compared to the F11 or even the E61 ...

Speaking of which, any chance that BMW School is going to be back for 2012?

Did ED this summer. I enjoyed it and would do it again. It is theoretically a no charge event, but PCNA makes the dealer pay for the ED program. As such, the dealer won't discount the car as much. You are still paying for it, but Porsche has hidden he cost. I think it's worth it anyway.

I'm doing it this year on my GT3 and the dealer explained it that way. You have to pay MSRP for in demand cars like the GT3. And when I brought up ED, he told me they usually hide the cost in a standard 911. For my GT3 it will be an extra $3000 to do European delivery.

I am not sure that the dealer can do that ...

I decided against getting a porsche for ED, it's too complicated and expensive.
Jamie Dillon from PCNA ED department told me that higher performance models cost more (and are still not free) for ED because any charges will be to cover the additional insurance cost for the higher liability vehicle.
She also said that charging VAT (19%) is at the dealer's discretion to collect from the customer, as they are accepting liability should the vehicle not return. They always recommend every dealer collects at least a deposit, if not the full amount, of the VAT to protect themselves.
Ridiculous!
I am just ordering a BMW M235i manual instead. Total cost 39k, no surcharges, no VAT and no BS.
I've done multiple BMW EDs and will probably continue to buy a BMW every year until such time that Porsche fixes these problems and becomes competitive with other German manufacturers.
Being charged insurance (on an already overpriced car that has had a significant jump in MSRP) AND being asked to cover the VAT because the dealer doesn't trust the customer is too big of a pill to swallow, and frankly is a bit insulting.

I thought PCNA announced a couple years ago that ED is now free?

AFIAK they did, in as much as they 'required' the dealer to absorb the $4000 'cost', the incentive being that they would receive an additional model allocation.
Apparently this dealer didn't get that memo...
One way around the VAT deposit; lease the car from Porsche Finance, then once the car returns to the US finance the purchase and pre-terminate the lease, which I believe PFS does not apply a surcharge ... just an idea.
