Attention GT3 Owners - Don't Get Cayman R!

Cayman R
First day on the track (Thompson CT) with Cayman R. While the HP difference from my 996 GT3 is evidenced, it's somewhat offset by changing driving style a bit. Just a fun, balanced and fast ride. I think in time I personally will be faster with CR in most situations. Of course, long straights no way, at Thompson I was maybe 115 front straight, Monster GTR closer to 130+, GT3 I'm guessing in that neighborhood. No regrets on the CR for me. A few days to learn the track here better and I bet lap times not going to be competitive with almost anything street.
Now if I just had some upgrades to brakes and better tires..........

Good news on the CR, I'm going to Thompson Tomorrow.. Hopefully it will stay dry..
I'd love to see a Mezger in a Cayman R

"put a 911 engine in a Cayman along with some suspension and vola' "
2 years ago for half price of a used GT3 (love 'em) I bought a pristine 22,500 mile 2006 Cayman S modded by Farnbacher Loles w/ crate 3.8L X-51 engine, Evolution intake, custom 3" exhaust, Quaiffe LSD, Bilstien coilovers, GT3 front brakes, 3rd radiator, sport clutch, Kinesis wheels. It's probably making around 420 hp and is competitive w/ most GT3s, badly driven GT3 RS's and Vettes, all other Caymans except maybe TPC turbos, all non-turbo 911s, etc. It was the best purchase I've probably ever made.

6spd, Cayman-R would be a fantastic street car for daily or weekends. I've been considering one for this purpose for a while, especially given the big increase in 997 GT3 values. I want another .1RS, but can't get myself to swallow the current market prices. Cayman-R for half the price looks pretty attractive these days.

This isn't the place for this post being a GT3 forum however given the basis of this thread I thought I would throw this in the mix
Jim Richards is one of the best drivers ever in Australian Motorsport history and his comments in this video are very interesting
mind you this is on a Cayman S not the R

never never ever cross cars "off the list" - one simply adjusts their position and importance on the list - removal is a serious offense and reserved for only the most egregious offenses - this list represents one's hopes desires and dreams - up or down in priority - but rarely removed…

The Interseries Cayman is one of the best cars I've ever driven. I love my GT3 but had a good one been available at the time I would have purchased it instead.
