Default Why aren't there more 19" R-comp tire choices?

Any idea why more tire manufacturers don't make r-compound tires in the sizes native to our cars? The only r-comp 19" tires I can find are Toyo R888 (no thanks), Hoosiers, MPSC, P Zero Corsas, and, when the factory decides to make them, P Zero Trofeos. That's it. No Toyo RA1. No Goodrich R1. No Nitto NT01. No Kumho V710.

Why? Go to any track day and you're going to see a preponderance of 997s of various sorts, nearly all of which came from the factory with 19" tires. Wouldn't that suggest there is a pretty good market out there for these sizes? I know you can go with 18s, but the car's suspensions were originally engineered with 19" wheels/tires in mind, and it seems the dreaded ice-mode ABS failures are all too common when trying to make some of the other options work.

I know some of those tires that do come in our size are decent, but they're also pretty flipping expensive or, in the case of R888s, just not that great. Yet all the guys in the 996s and air cooled 911s have all kinds of options.

Ugh. Just venting here, but I'm curious if anybody knows why our options for 19s are so limited. And I'm also hoping maybe somebody from Kumho, Goodrich, Nitto, or Toyo might stealthily monitor these forums occasionally and try to help us out......

I have a pair of R888 for sale (305-30-19). Very low mileage/use...85% tread left. $500 shipped. They are listed in the marketplace adds also.

Maybe, but the 991's wheels are tire combination sit taller then the 997. So I doubt that you will see tires that are exactly what the OEM spec tire sizes are.
