Nitto NT01's ?

We need the 305-35-18 or 315-35-18.....All 997 cars can use them, including GT3/RS. Ideally the 305, but 35 aspect ratio is the must.

Love these tires. Have run them on my past several track cars and found the grip very good and the wear
much better than the MPSC's.
Joe: Please beg them to make 19" GT3 sizes. I've already tried but it seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Nitto won't consider making a size unless they think they can sell a decent amount of tires. Asking them to make a size that only the RS can use is a terrible proposition. Not enough tires would sell, then they would discontinue the size, or worse, never listen to us again.
The 305 or 315 is a size that the entire 997 range can use, so it's the most enticing business opportunity for Nitto. We could easily support that size, ensuring continued production. Then we can lobby for the 335, or others.
All the 335 addicts can then get off the understeer wagon and enjoy some balance for a bit.
I've got two sets of brand new, shaved 335 RA1's sitting in my garage. I'll gladly sell you mine when Nitto comes through for us, because some fresh NT01's will be just as fast as some 6 year old 335 RA1's.

Thanks guys for the info, i gave it to Nitto. Lots of ammo for our cause.
Maybe the OP should buy the 315s and try them out, if any problems he could always sell them to the 996 GT3 folks like myself.
Will keep people posted if I hear anything.
Thanks again.

R888 is good for a while, then heat cycle out much earlier than they should.
I run NT01 on 997.1 GT3 on the street, and in top track run groups. For me, no issues at all with ABS or other electronics. The R888 seems to have slightly better traction the first day or two of use, then deteriorate from there, ending in complete meltdown.
Nittos last much longer than Hoosiers or R888 for track use and still do fine on the street (granted, a little more noisy). Of course, not the grip of the Hoosiers, but a lot less cost up front and MUCH lower per-trackday cost considering the greater wear.
IMHO the perfect situation would be for Nitto to make the 315 in a higher profile or the 245 in a lower profile...either way, they would sell a boatload.

Not sure I understand why some of y'all take the risk of running a significantly undersized rear like the NT01 where the diameter difference is 1" smaller than stock. Maybe on the street I could understand where you aren't pushing the car, but on the track???
I really wish Nitto would make the NT01 in 19's for our car or at least the proper 18" rear. I ran many sets of those on my previous cars and they are the best bang for the buck DE tire. No sense in running a R6 unless you are club racing.

By the way, this is the email I got from Nitto recently regarding my request for a rear fitment for our cars:
Thank you for contacting Nitto Tire.
Thank you for the size suggestion. We are looking into releasing more
sizes in the future for the NT01. However, we do not have a set
timeframe or set list of new sizes to come. We will take your suggestion
into consideration for NT01 size expansion.
Thank you,

So I think you can write off the nitto option. Probably permanently. Although I would be interested in taking a whack at them myself. Every other non standard tire I've tried (hooter, kumho, michelin slick) has iced on me. As long as your prepared for it and stay out of the abs its not really that big a deal (knock on wood).
