3.8RS SC and Oil Pressure Indicator failure
Anyone had this?
I had SC failure come on. I had this happen twice before but at parking lot speeds.
This time I was cruising 40MPH and all lights came on for a seconds and then I had the message "SC failure".
I stopped the car, turned it off and restarted and the "SC failure" was gone but replaced by "Failure Oil Pressure Indicator" message and the oil pressure needle stayed at zero, also after reving up the car.
I stopped and started the car 3x, no change. I was only a few hundred feet from home, so I drove home and parked it.
Dealer adviced that it is probably the sensor as they have seen them go bad, but to be safe adviced not to drive the car and will send flat bed to pick it up.

Mine actually came back shortly later and then failed again. Freaked out as I didn't want to drive with the oil pressure warning. Decided that if I had zero oil pressure the car would have stopped running so I drove to the dealer and the oil sending unit was bad and replace un < 1 hour.

A fault is detected if the measured oil pressure is outside a defined range for > 30 seconds with the engine running.
Possible fault causes:
Oil pressure too low
(oil level, oil thinning, dirt in oil circuit, oil circuit faulty, etc.)
Oil pressure too high
(oil thickening, dirt in oil circuit, oil circuit faulty)
Oil pressure sensor faulty (incorrectly trimmed)
Loose contact or corrosion on connectors or lines
Short circuit to B+/ground/between lines or open circuit in the lines
Oil pressure regulating valve faulty
Oil pump faulty
Expect to see one the following faults and then you will know it's nothing more but a sensor..
P0521, P0522 or P0523

My GT2 did that going down the freeway. Less than 1000 miles when it happened. Pulled over shut down. Waited a minute fired back up checked fluid, checked for leaks, never happened again but it did scare the crap out of me. Never had that happen to the GT3. Just something else oil related........

Thanks everyone.
I think I will just have it picked up Tuesday, I will probably read it out before then.
Still will give me a week to fix it before Winterfest.
I tried restarting 3x it is still there.
Oil change was done less then 4 track days ago, maybe 1000 miles total track and street.
Oil change was probably never done over 1500 miles and or 6 track days, except for 10 days during mancation and all fluids were done right before and right after that time.

It happened to me once. Every once in a while, a few months, the computer does something weird. There was no real issue, the computer was just in a weird loop and need to be reset. I got a "Failure Oil Pressure Indicator" and my gauge stopped working. Resetting the ECU fixed it. I have gotten traction control failures and random engine faults just driving normally on the street. Each time I take it to the dealer, there is no real issue and they just reset the ECU. It seems that the SW in the ECU in our cars is pretty flakey.

Eddie came by and cleared code P0521. And bought me lunch ;-).
As soon as we cleared it the gauge started working again.
Restarted the car about 10x today drove about 80 miles in mixed driving, all seems OK.

Could this be why they updated the software? My car was in for its first service yesterday and the software update was performed. The technician said it had something to do with a false oil pressure warning.
