I know that many of you on the GT3 Forum have much more technical knowledge than I do, which is why I have come here to ask the "experts."
The lug bolts on my 2010 C2S are already starting to rust and I am looking for permanent solution to resolve this issue. I know I could repaint them, which I did on my 996 bolts, but that is a temporary solution which will have to be redone every couple of years. So here is my question:
Are there any issues that I should be aware of about using Stainless Steel Lug Bolts? I am considering these: STAINLESS STEEL LUG NUTS
I posted a similar thread on the 997 forum and a couple of guys mentioned that stainless steel was more brittle and had less tinsel strength than OEM bolts.
I would appreciate any comments regarding strength and safety of stainless steel bolts.
Thanks!

Not sure about the strength of SS bolts.
GT3 guys are converting to wheel studs with steel nuts for added strength and speedy wheel changes. They surface rust a little but are strong, quick and painless.
Not sure if that is much help as it is more of a commercial application for us track guys.
GT3 guys tend to be function first, style second.

just get a new set or paint and repaint at will. id gladly deal with a little bit of rust that no one would care to notice except the most ****-retentive for oem tested quality, strength and inventory.

Stainless Steel is softer. I'd stick with stock (paint them if looks are what you're after) or convert to studs.

honestly its all dependent on the grade of SS you choose. If you really have a bee in your bonnet about this - go to an aviation engineering forum and find out where to get some appropriate grade aerospace SS billets and have a shop machine them to your specification. (bolts or studs)
Whilst doing it, have the tool operator put a GT3 logo on each and you have a product that is ideal for this forum

Guys,
Thanks for the comments and feedback. I know that especially here (the GT3 Forum), "function preceeds form" which is why I came here. While I am am trying not be be as **** with the 997 as I was with the 996, rusty lug nuts are just not acceptable on a $100K car. However, I certainly don't want to sacrifice safety for "looks."
My search continues.

Tim, on the wife's cab, I just rattle can a coat of primer, then silver, then clear. Let sit and install with a soft socket. Since the wheels rarely come off, it looks great and lasts. For the GT3, I wouldn't since the wheel changes are more frequent.

Odd that your lugs are rusting...I live right on the salt water right in my back yard and haven't had any rust issues on the lug nuts on my past 997's.

If you can track down bill Koenig of Rennworx he has a line on titanium lugs for Porsche
I do not have his contact info and his last website does not seem to be up

Am I missing something here? If the optics are the issue, just buy a set of new OEM lug nuts, paint the heads the color of your choice and the world's your oyster. Aftermarket bolts I just don't know their quality. I've stuck to OEM in my 5-bolt days, style be damned... then again, my wife says my sense of aesthetics is practically nonexistent ![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
996.361.980.00 / Wheel Bolt / Sold individually...
I assume the OP doesn't regularly track his C2S. If so there's absolutely no reason to go the way of studs+nuts. You'll have plenty of explaining to do when you try to let go of the car and a sharp-eyed dealer/buyer spots the change. CPO out of the equation right there.
Like many others here, I'm **** about technical details and all about function over form. But to tell a street car owner to put on STUDS??? Or TITANIUM WHEEL NUTS? Dazt hazt got to bee a bad joke...
