The rear weight bias of the 997 GT3 puts special demands on the rear wheels. If memory serves, the front (TUV) load is 380 kg per wheel and the rear is 645 kg.
High lateral loads and the car's high moment of inertia create a high bending moment on the wheel spokes and if they are not stiff (mechanically resistant) enough, they will develop fatigue cracks or fractures.
We've not seen this until now with our wheels, except with one guy who overheated his wheel in a powder coat cure process. That will ruin the tensile strength in a forged alloy.
