+1.

I have now seen the 3.6/3.8 PP rivets fail on low milage and high milage cars with gentle shifters and new looking clutches and no overrevs. Everything looks new inside, just the rivets let go.

More tomorrow.

Anyone got any more input on this? Any photos of a 4.0 PP yet to show how it's put together

Dealer says it is the throw out bearing.
Why would that fail by a gentle shifter like me at 13K miles?

I was adviced to also put in a new 4.0 PP (I agree) and clutch?

The car should be ready by tomorrow.

Did you manage to get a look at or take pics of the new 4.0 PP? Can you confirm if it's now rivet free, how many bands etc

In October when I started this thread they fixed my PP and I received the 4.0 pressure plate. Free under goodwill. No one bothered to tell me that there is also a superceding part number for the clutch. the 3.8 clutch does not hold up, they all break. Little holes crackand the spring falls out and destroys the PP. Defective part, underdesigned for the 3.8RS. The new 4.0 clutch is missing these holes.

After 100 miles my clutch broke and it broke my brand new shine 4.0 PP as well.
Now no warranty, no goodwil from Porsche +/- 5k. The dealer has been great and fighting for me, but even though there is a superceding clutch, I was never given an opportunity to buy it when they had the car apart. Now I get to pay for a 4.0 PP and 4.0 clutch. You can't even get the 3.8 anymore, the dealers orders 3.8 part number and 4.0 box shows up.

I don't know if I can take Porsches ignorance any longer.
A titanium exhaust that fails every 3K OK, but parts failing that have been taken off the shelf because the fail on all RS should be covered with the superceding part under warranty, even recalled.

Pics of the clutch and pp to follow.

geez, and I was mad about the plastic rear brake duct bracket that has the same part number stamped on it, but they are actually different for the RS.

That's crazy, they should've atleast told you about it and gave you the option to simply buy the updated clutch disc, and install it while they were already in there, giving you the free labor.

That totally blows...

I think Champion is to blame as well. They should know better. Both Porsche and Champion should make good. I will stay at Collection they have always taken good care of me.

I have personally seen both 3.8 and 4.0 parts

To me it looks like the 3.8 clutch will fail.
