I go to track to race and heckle (is he still faster than Erik? seems most guys driving around him. I was running 2:04s in a '78 3.2l targa with old pavement. Maybe his PP was slipping whole time and he could never get over 6000 rpms..) With amount Peter spends between events for maintenance, a real PP would not even tickle his invoice... But hey, whatever works for everyone. That is why it is a sport...

It's more expensive than the 3.8RS one we know that The 3.8RS one had three straps vs two on the 3.6RS so it was beefed up for those gearing down etc... The straps do come apart though even with the three strap versions We've seen it plenty of times... The 4.0 one is indeed a different part number and currently the only one that Porsche will sell you if you order a new PP for the 3.8. I have an even beefier one I use (a Sachs Motorsports) on the 3.9s and it's a couple of hundred less than the 4.0 one. I'll need to get a picture of one as I have it coming in to compare....

If you put too strong of a PP in and money shift wont the engine take the brunt of the mistake
A guy at Daytona money shifted this weekend and the PP went boom

I buy cheapest pads per day, am on my 3rd set of front rotors and second set of rears buy $700 a set tires an LSD and toe links. I stay in $65.00 HI Express and eat at the cracker barel. My biggest expense is fluids, diesel, gas and Vodka.
When I buy a car advertised for track use I expect them to replace known inferior parts, like the PP with the right part#. There is a reason the new part number supercedes the old one. The old one breaks on all new RS cars, just like the Ti exhaust burns out every few thousand track miles, so I buy a Sharkey with my own money because aI love the sound. That's bad enough, Ti exhaust is inferior.

The Sachs model is the one I was talking about. 3 pin unit. Yes if you money shift it will not self destruct like the other models (which I have still seen still blow motors). I have used it for YEARS (installed and sold maybe 100). Only seen one failure ever.

Friend blew pressure plate in2010 rs. Warranty covered it with 4.0 clutch. I was told the 3.8 plate is riveted together. The 4.0 is threaded nuts and bolts.

How I miss eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel They don't have them out here in NV/CA.
Cheesy oniony hashbrown casserole, greasy eggs, ham, gravy, biscuits with butter. I will probably live another 10 years but I sure do miss CB.
On topic, I have approx 10,000 track miles on original clutch with no problems. I checked the disk 6 months ago and it looked 80% new. FWIW. YMMV. I suspect driving style is a factor in disk longevity.

For sure heh... I'm actually considering switching out the unit we use for this 4.0 version because if it's not using rivets it should be stronger
