Default Hoosier Front tire solution for 2010/11 GT3-RS

I have been running the R6 on my 2011 RS. I run the 325/30/ZR-19, rear and the 235/35/ZR-19 for the front. I checked with Hoosier on the 245’s and they said they have no plans to make them through 2012. They said they do have a 265/35-ZR19 that may work. Tread width on the 265 is 9.6” vs. 9.25” on the 235’s. Overall diameter is 26.1” on the 265 vs. 25.6” on the 235’s.

The stock 245/35-19 sport cups that come on the RS are 25.8” overall diameter and have a 9.3” tread width as a comparison.

My car has been center balanced and lowered to the EURO ride height.

Is there anyone out there running a Hoosier R6 265/35-19 on the front of their 2010-11 GT3-RS?

If so do you have any tire rub or any other comments or feedback you could offer?

Thank guys.

Give Gavin at Autoquest a call

He has run about every 19" hooter known to man, he's super nice and will tell you the pro / con of each size.

We were talking about the same thing the other day at Sebring.....like usual I only could internalize 50% of teh knowledge so I dont want to repeat it half wrong.

Emil me is you dont have his contact info

Steve- I run the R6 265/345 19" combo. The results are stunning and the car is perfectly balanced. Certainly no understeer and turn-in is quite amazing.

HOWEVER, unless you want to rub through your fender well liners, be unable to turn the steering wheel more than approx 180 degrees and eventually do some real damage you must make some tweaks including centering the wheel within the well via caster adjustment and also removing the liners and removing the outer radiator support brackets, then replacing the liners. You will probably also need to remove the washer fluid tank from behind driver side liner.

If you invest the time and effort, this size combo can be made to work but figure on 3-4 hours per side mucking about to make it work properly. I did and mine fit perfectly with no interference lock to lock and throughout suspension travel. Personally I am not willing to drive a car that has interference issues.

Pete,

I knew it would not take you long to give some great technical info. I knew I saw someone with that tire combo on here but I could not remember where I saw it. BTW, I am not going monterey this weekend. I got a chance to run another event at Autobaun in chicago this weekend.

Your post is another great reason why someone needs to buy your car.
