GT3 - PADM Failure? Any Ideas?
I just finished a day of lapping at the track! It was a blast!
Unfortunately, on my drive home I noticed a "PADM Failure" message.
I checked the manual and it said something about a failure in the Porsche Active Drivetrain Mount (special engine mounts).
Is this a common issue with the GT3's?
Based on anyone's experience, is it a big deal to repair?

such faults with TC, SC etc are typically a transient error that should clear itself... occurs (infrequently) on track under extreme conditions when a sensor signal exceeds normal values and the car logs it as a fault.
As an example, park a 997 on the karussel (nordschliefe), get out, admire the history, inspect the entry and exits ... get back in the car, turn on ignition and its christmas time on the dash as every system reports back to the ECU ... being tilted at 30 degrees will do that to many of the cars systems... I suspect you are experiencing a similar situation...
if it does not clear after 1-2 ignition cycles then take it to the dealer and have them check and clear it with PIWIS ... I seriously doubt that there is really a problem with the mounts ... if there is its a warranty issue.

Most likely it will clear itself, if not then the next suspect is the control unit for the active engine mounts. (look pics for location and removal procedure).
The dealer will:
a. clear the fault
b. check and replace the control
If none of the above works, they will look at the cables and the mounts for a hardware issue.
As Larry said, all easily fixed under warranty.
Now, please excuse me, I have to go and give a kiss to my non-active 993 semi-solid engine mounts.

John, take a friend or a mobile phone, so you can call the fire dept ... you may get into the engine compartment ... but I am concerned that you will not be able to get out once you have kissed said engine mounts! ... pls post pictures of the procedure in DIY section entited "DIY kissing engine mounts"

p.s
my guess is that this is a transient, and will either clear itself, or simply requires PIWIS clear...

Thanks, this is very helpful. I don't feel anything different when I'm driving the car.
Its good to know what the dealer might do to fix this.
I wish you and your non-active engine mounts happy times!

No issues at Sebring at 140 on the flat back straight or bounce through Sebrings corners. But my 2009 Carrera S and now my 2012 GTS both experienced this issue at Daytona.
