Default Brembo 2 pisce - 997 Gt3,1

Hello all of you

Could any of you gentlemen help me on this issue - it may seem small - but just need confirmation that i am on the right track.

I am based in Scandinavia - and Track my Gt3 heavily - it took me 2 trackday´s before the disk was completely ruined - and that point is for me not good - I love the feeling of a set of super solid brake´s - that you can lean on as hard as possible.

I changed the set with Pagid R29 - and a set of Brembo floating disk (cup i believe the call the config.). The front went on well - but because of the handbrake the rear´s was a problem - I think i have the wrong disk / bell to go with the rear.

On these photo´s - can you judge if these are front - and have any of you a spare part nr. or a shop where i can buy the disk here in Europe. Brembo don't answer may email , i was given from a kind gentlemen from Sharkwerk´s -

Any help is very much appreciated -

All the best.

Peter Riis

That is a rear full floating unit. The rears generally do not allow for the use of a rear handbrake. Some of the Brembo configs even require removal of some of the aluminum so handbrake cannot be reinstalled in future. I know was this way for 996GT3. Have not tried a set on a 997.

I've got the Brembo rotors on my car (997.1 GT3 originally with PCCB) and the parking brake functionality is maintained by the Brembo hats. Unfortunately I don't have the part numbers handy on the stuff installed on my car. The photos of your hats and mounting hardware are different then mine though, here are some quick shots of the rear;

I had brembo trype IIIs (like what the OP posted) on my 996-3 and now on my 997.1RS and I had/have parking brake fuctionality on on both

The McLaren bobbin ones are different and the hats are totally different. The McLaren bobbins are designed more for a high perf street application with some track use (sort of a floater with springs so no clanging noise on street). The full floaters are generally (as yes it does vary) track only and the bells are sometimes lighter material.

Thanks for the info on the bobbins, that's why I spend way too much time on this site, there are always interesting things to learn.

Just sleuthing the Brembo stuff on the internet, the part number on the hat shown in the OP picture is very close to the part numbers Brembo has listed for a replacement hat and rotor for a 997 Cup car (BREXA5.R7.21 and BREXA5.R7.22). I'm guessing that a cup car doesn't have (or need) an e brake. My guess he has a hat that is simply not intended for us with an e-brake.

Call www.racetechnologies.com and they can help - I believe them to be the us brembo distributor

They used to have an application chart on their website that would allow you to look over the part numbers but now their site is under construction
