Check maps below. Sport Auto (SA) runs a 20.6 kms configuration, they clarify on the course map the start line and finish line.

A full lap is 20,832 meters (20.8 kms).

You can calculate the additional time to complete a full lap, by using the SA time posted over the 20.6 kms distance, to get average speed, and with the assumption that average speed around the full lap stays the same, then calculate lap time for the full lap. Even if average speed changes a little (it does), the incidence of such a small segment of 232 meters over a lap of 20,832 meters is small. Still, the small segment is 1/8th of a mile length not accounted on SA Nurburgring lap times.

So, to compare apples to apples, one should always take the SA times and add 5 secs to their lap time. As good and experienced as Mr. Horst Von Saurma is, he's not a race car pro driver. Factories use the most skilled drivers and do a lot of testing before publishing their times.

The 430 Scuderia ran a 7:39, or 6 secs slower compared to the GT3 RS 3.8 under a similar testing procedure used by SA. So, the fastest so far the Scuderia has gone around the ring is ~7:44. Schumi tried and wrecked.

For comparison purposes, here are the SA laps from the new Audi R8 GT, F458 Italia, GT2 RS, GT3 3.8 (7:40) and GT3 RS 3.8

thanks for clarifying - just wanted to make sure there was no BTG-style confusion. ;-)

In fact all record attempts of most recent time on the Nordschleife have been performed this way. All onboard videos, be it from GT-R, Z06 or ZR1, are timed without the segment along the former pitlane (T13).

By the way, can anybody post the 4.0´s aerodynamic data out of the SA test?

996, 997.1 and 997.2 GT3 (especially GT2) owners have until 2013 to enjoy being the fastest street Porsches on the track until the release of 991 GT3 that I predict will make these older models obsolete... even strippers....

longer, wider, lighter, more powerful and paddle shift.....
a recipe for another great Porsche. just think of one stripped!

question is, what will Rad be using come 2013-2014.....?

Ferrari?
McLaren?
P-car?

trailer-only car??

Easy answer, F458 Corsa or MP4-12C GT3.

P-cars will be in their way to reach the 200,000 units sold per year, so expect even more variations of the GT3: GT3, GT3 RS 3.8, GT3 RS 4.0, GT3 RS 4.2, GT3 RSR 4.4, etc.

Ditto, same conclusion on this side. until then the 430 Scud reigns supreme. Its just that the soft springs with limited suspension travel keep it from being a NRing time beater.

and at almost 20 seconds slower, the mk1 6 3 is much more exciting.
