I'm not 100% sure on this, but, I believe the RS which ran the Nurburgring 24hr race used a cup set-up due to race requirements. I think this was mentioned in the Panorama story about the race.

This says it all. Why do it on a street car? The answer is: silly bling.

....and perhaps, unnecessary complexity.

Pete, thank you sooo much for the info... It puts the mind at ease over the strength and durability of the system and explains what the changes are intended to achieve. If you come across any photos of the type of wear described, please post. That way we know exactly what to look for when wheel swapping.

7) Beer.
replace #6 with a brake pedal depressor, saves money on #7 and no calories! Just make sure the car is on for the brake boost while setting.

Savyboy enlightens us all again. Big Thanks!!

Could you shed some light on the source of that "1,000 Nm" number? Would be good to know for sure there's a healthy margin of error before we over-torque and strip the CL threads...

Thanks guys - I stand corrected. It sucks being wrong, but, at some point I need to learn not to challenge the Jedi on this board!

...and I should have said this at the beginning - Thanks Savy! Your information is very informative and timely!

Big thanks for info! Instead of bashing them, helps us know how to use/maintain/enjoy? them.

Never offer trakcar free beer like that, you just lost a bet

I don't know what all the whining is about on these centerlocks. They look great, perform great.

Big deal, a little grease, tighten, lower, the car and torque.

I do it all myself with the help of a trucker tool. It goes against the seat and brake pedal to allow me to torque wheels on my own.

I'm thinking of driving over to Yorkshireman this afternoon instead of waiting for the next track event ;-)
