To be fair to whom? Surely, not those 996 and 997.1 owners that have experienced catastrophic engine failure or had to purchase an aftermarket retrofit for several thousand dollars...
Wonder if Porsche will be as "fair" to us as they were to all those souls
I'm calm now

Aftermarket retrofit for RMS?
Are you confusing it with something else?
*I am thinking 996 IMS issues..

Touche. I wasn't confused, simply, misread your original post. Please accept my apology.
I was speaking of the IMS issue and how Porsche has NEVER owned up to the problem. I believe that this will be the same case for the center lock (call me a conspiracy theorist).

I love a good conspiracy theory, although the CL issue looks more like a stupid mistake than anything else..
Perhaps they will "solve" this one by offering a no-cost option for 5L in the 991 series.

The street CLs aren't incompatible with power tools per se. The inconvenient truth is that porsche has no way of specifying the force settings used by the masses from around the world, so they opted for an outright ban on impact/power tools in hopes that'll avoid donkey-natured damages and subsequent warranty costs. How do you think the CLs are torqued in Zuffenhausen? By an army of strong-armed Germans with ze tork venchez?
