Default Anyone using Akrapovic Sport Cup system?

Drops 46lbs and there should be no issues with check engine lights or emissions since it keeps everything stock from cats forward.

http://www.akrapovic.com/car-exhaust.../evolution-79/

I'm curious about sound levels. Akra claim it's slighter quieter than stock system with sport button on. There are plenty of videos and posts for the Evolution system but nothing to be found for Sports Cup system other than a not very useful mixed-track video on Akra website.

I wanted to get some real-world feedback from anyone using the system.

Thanks.

This is a good read (with dyno graph and install pics):
Project Porsche GT3 - Part 5 - One Step To The Wild Side
From the July, 2011 issue of European Car
By Doug Neilson

"...The manufacturer weight savings claim for this exhaust system is a substantial 17 kg (37.5 pounds) off the rear of the car; this was fully confirmed to within less than a pound when I borrowed my wife’s kitchen scales..."

"...The added power is certainly noticeable from the seat of the pants, and most welcome. However, the deeper, much more mechanical and racy soundtrack, and the amazing weight savings is what slams home the true value of this system’s high price of admission (MSRP $12,495). Where the stock GT3 exhaust note is civilized and muted by comparison, the Akrapovic Full Evolution system allows the full motorsport bandwidth of the GT3’s flat-six to blow through the spectacular upsized titanium exhaust tips. In Normal mode below 4200 rpm all three mufflers are utilized, so your neighbors aren’t going to be too upset with you. But pressing the Sport button, you can choose to cause audio mayhem, depending on how much right foot is applied. Thus, the new system gives a true Jekyll-and-Hyde effect—it can be borderline conservative, or just plain wild and nasty...."

Have seen this. Interesting but I'm focused on the Sports Cup system. Thanks.

Default Akra

It's difficult to feel less than 10% power gains, and this is less than 5%. The stock header and cat are already very efficient so the OP is moving in the right direction with the Cup System which removes the stock side and center mufflers and replaced with a center ti muffler and connecting pipes. The article above is for a full system with Ti headers and hi-flow cats. this is what brings the price point to $12k+. It has the benefit of the sport button retention which is useful for some. However, the weight savings is remarkable and I understand Akra's build quality is first rate. I've heard some reservations about the longevity of Ti exhausts when used on the track (welds, rattling, etc.). After some consideration and research, I'm leaning towards a cat back system utilizing the stock header and cats. Weight saving is a big factor for me followed by sound (like it loud but not too raspy/rattley), power gains are a plus but not primary. I'm willing loose a bit down low for gains in the mid and upper ranges. The $12k price seems high in comparison to some but the full system provides very slight power gain and slightly less weight given the Ti headers and cats. The Cup systems seems a better solution for the $ but still not the best bang for the buck. Frankly, I like the idea of the Europipe race pipe that
is a simple cat-back concept eliminating all mufflers. Great weight savings but a likely a bit loud.

Nizer, i have the Akra sport cup exhaust on my car.

Lose a little low end torque, but gain in the mid and high end.

Sport button does not do anything with sound, just utilizes the sport map.

The exhaust note is always on since the side mufflers are gone. A little louder than stock exhaust with sport mode on and a slight drone under 3k rpms. I don't think its anything annoying.

Love the exhaust!!!!!!

Or if you want light and also keeping the stock cats/headers (a wise move) then you can use our cup system too:

A bit of low-end tq loss below 4100rpm's. Did I mention that it's loud

I think Chris Harris put one of these on his GT3.
He loved it but said it was too much for day to day driving.
He now has the system with the side mufflers which
I have on my 4.0.
Much more usuable as the sport button can be used as a
volume control.
