I went to my Porsche dealer to perform an oil service on my GT3 and saw this unbelievable original 550 Spyder. They even turned on the engine and it sounded incredible!! Just awesome; my favorite collector car!

This is the car to revive.
A sub-boxster, 4 cyl, 2 seater, 1000kg lightweight, 300bhp.
Make a sponsored junior race series for it.
Your cayennopanamerocajuno sins will be forgiven.

I love it either way.
FWIW here is the interior of a known example. Some minor variations are noted, namely the e-brake handle and the gauges, wipers (!) & windshield frame.

This car has strangely modern looking wiper arms and generally the lack of "patina" that would suggest a half million dollar collectible car. As ever, if you see a 550 or RSK or whatever, you can tell if it's real or reproduced just by the circumstances -- parked unattended in a dealership, it's not likely to be a real one. Parked on the fairway grass at Pebble Beach with geriatric old geezers in blue blazers protecting it on all sides, that's a different circumstance. : )

Some of the replica products are great. Horses for courses, I guess.

my 550 is registered in texas as a porsche because it's got a porsche engine and tranny...
I love it. even when it's hot outside it's a great car to drive around in...gets REALLY sketchy on the freeway driving behind 18-wheelers. these cars are microscopic by modern standards.

It seems a replica as CarreraGT pointed out. It also misses the center horn button with the Porsche crest.
For those in the kno about these classics... what's the value of an original?
What's the price of a replica with a period engine?
To 911Slow: I think a modern day 550 will be rather different, soft and heavy.

I was in love with a Beck Spyder until I drove one. I was immediately transported to a 1960 VW Beetle. Slow, no brakes, not really fun to drive at all. Maybe I got a bad example but my urge pretty much disappeared.
