Congratulations on the purchase. I've had mine for one year now and I like it better than my RS. You made the right choice.

Lotus 2-eleven

So now I have an empty garage and am patiently waiting for the 991 RS' to come out. However, in the mean time, I need a toy to play with... not for track, but for fun on the streets. I need some help deciding what to buy to keep me occupied until the 991 RS arrives.

Option 1:
I have reserved 1 of the 15, Final Edition Lotus Elise SC's. It's Ardent Red. These cars are loaded with every conceivable option. And are literally the last Elise in the current style with the sought after, high-revving Toyota power plant. They are all sold out. I snagged one. They are 1900lbs of pure sporting fun. Cost is only $59k. Downside, it won't be here until mid-Sept.

Option 2:
Porsche Boxster Spyder. I found a Silver on black with sport buckets and manual with about 800 miles. Not my 1st choice in color, but has the seats I want and manual. I think I can snag it for low-60's. For some reason, this option doesn't apparel to me as it's less toy-like vs. the Lotus. But it is available now, is a Porsche, is safer than the Lotus and more comfortable for cruising, etc.

I am torn. Any feedback or experience with any of these cars would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

The Cayman RS would provide a "halo" model for the range and establish a link to Porsche's motorsport heritage...

It's being delvered either tomorrow or Saturday. It's silver on black with sport buckets and manual. I think I paid fair price.. not a steal of a deal, but it's the only one with sport buckets and manual on the market. It's going to be a fun weekend! Thank you all for your help. And if anyone is interested in the Lotus, I can transfer my reservation to you.
congrats ... funny I suspected that manual+buckets would be rare!

Thank you! It literally was the only one I could find. I checked every dealer in CA and looked on all the "sell" sites... dupont, autotrader.com, cars.com, fleabay, the forums, etc. My first color choice was white. But the silver was a close enough second to pull the trigger. All the others had the basic sport seats and/or pdk. I couldn't even find another with the buckets period. Pdk or not. It's being delivered tomorrow. I will post pics and a street-ride review over the weekend.

Every time I drive a spyder I want one. Perfect socal canyon carver. Top down, great suspension out of the box. It needs pccb's or the brake master cylinder upgraded. Oh and a light weight flywheel and some uncorking for sound.

Love light weight lotus' being a Brit but I'm 5-11, 174pounds and getting in and out of James Elise was a chore for everyday driving and I was always worried about how fragile it was. If I didn't get squashed by a GMC I was worried about sneezing and causing a crack in the 6k clamshell.
