Thanks a ton for the candid observations and help, guys.
Could this be a rough guide for actual GT3 sales prices? Seems like the delineation between prices is right about 15k:
996 GT3 - 60-65k
997.1 GT3 - 78-82k
997.2 GT3 - 95-98k

Got to drive both first as yes there's some differences that fit people slightly differently. Looking back at day 1 of my 2010 ownership vs my 2007rs here's what I said and still stand by:

It's not a bad choice to have Craig but you be able to tell the subtleties that way. Suspension in the mk2 makes it a better road car with less movement. Generally has better aero for the track too. The engine? I like the way the 3.6 revs a teeny bit better. But the 3.8 does have a bit more oomph with the different cams and larger displacement.
Do you like blondes, brunettes... Both, right?
One thing is for sure there are some good deals out there right now so don't rush and find one to your spec
Ps bit nervous about the alpine nav car as I've never seen an rs with bling stereo stuff in it and makes me wonder what else has been played with?
Pps Oh and saw you were thinking about the 6 too. That's a tough one. For 50-55k the 6gt3 is a down right steal. Best value of all of them and it's the last macho one too. No traction control, pasm. Just a raw 911 but and the closest to the 72rs of the modern/gt3 era.

Here is an example of my old RS' seats... these are the Euro-spec 996 seats. The US-spec seats have no business in GT cars. No support whatsoever. It was a crime Porsche forced the US consumer to deal with those horrible seats in the stock mk1 GT cars.

GT2 seats were available for 2010 and 2011 cars... and many people have installed them in earlier cars so you'll see them in 997.1 and even 996 GT3 as well. Yup, great support and they're perfect for accessing the rear so you can actually make use of what little cargo space is available back there. The seat backs are slightly too upright for my taste especially once I'm harnessed-in with Hans, but I can live with it.
