Default engine builders?

hi guys,

i got a friend who has built a time attack car (sti) with top-shelf components, but is looking to source/build a forced induction gt1 motor. i know this ain't the turbo forum, i don't frequent the turbo forums and know nothing about them, but maybe someone round here knows somebody that he can speak to?
he has built many crazy cars before and raced them, but he needs some reliabilty thus his looking at a 911 motor. he is very serious about his cars. i suggested evoms and tpc...

thanks in advance.

I don't think GMC would take on the project; perhaps you mean GMG? : ) In either case, I don't know that they have anything much in the way of forced induction one-off experience or resources.

I think TRG has been out of that game for years.

I'd start with Jerry Woods.

It very much depends on the "reality" of the project -- if it's a serious project with budget in line with objectives and the rest of the car to match in terms of the application and time-frame, then you'll find a top shelf shop willing to take on the project.

Beware of any shop too willing to take on the project without thorough research and planning -- there's more than one shop out there willing to "say yes first, take money, then ask questions."

Todd at Protomotive (Arkansas)
Kevin at Ultimate (Wash ?)
Jerry Woods (SF Ca.)

any of these 3 would be a good place to start. If it is Turbo, I would have a hard time saying no to Todd Knighton at Protomotive. Have never heard a bad word re: his work

I think your best bet will be Loren @ 911 Designs

He build some amazing forced induction GT race cars.

His shop also competed in ALMS last year too if you want race credit.

Also he is a great guy.

We have built several High HP one of projects and are more than capable of doing this.

We can also supply you with a GT1 Porsche Motorsport engine. We have a few available if needed in various trim from sprint to endurance configurations.

We are also in the process of building a few true 4.0 liter turbo engines.

Feel free to email me or call.
