'11 RS conversion on Topgear UK
#47
The panels ALONE (not including rear wing, uprights & decklid) are ~ $18k. This doesn't include any liner hardware, rockers, or other small pieces that may be needed, nor labor for install/paint/etc.
Go for it Jon!
Cant wait to see this thing completed.

FLA997,
You are probably right about the gas lid. That is what I assume they did on Euro converted RSR as there is a fender opening for the gas on that car. Are they planning a set of wheels as in your avatar GT3R?

I am not aware of all the plans for that car - but following closely as I had planned on doing this to my .1 track car.
Those wheels on the GT3R are monoblocks in the below sizes...and one of the things I have been trying to sort out is the offsets as they relate to ...say...E88's. The motorsports wheels pictured require a Carerra GT CL setup at a cost of about $5600 (just for the centerlocks + wheel bearing replacement)...the wheels on the GT3-R are about $2500 each! But Jesus are they beautiful.
13x18 ET25 BBS 1-pc forged Motorsportwheel with center lock, GT3 R rear $2,253.00ea
11x18 ET35 BBS 1-pc. forged Motorsportwheel with center lock, GT3 R front $2,466.00ea
Given these offsets, I don't see how in the world they would fit on a stock upright/spring clearance...unless I am missing something (which is probably the case). At this point, I am just trying to grasp the wheel offset equation.
Like I said, I am watching this play out - there are so many elements that need to be figured into the bodywork to make it all work. Hats off to the car owner for going thru this - one thing is for sure - the car will be stunning when finished.

Roger was explaining some complicated custom CF stuff regarding the fuel filler, doing it the hard way and they plan to do a lot of test fitting of the wheels and ride hight adjustments to fill up the bodywork..
Don't know how complicated. As usual he lost me half way in...
The goal is to end up with a car that could sit in a new Porsche dealer showroom and look as if Porsche build it like that as a street car.
Kinda like we were all hopeing the 4.0 would be..

The gas lid is not just a simple cut of the fender. That would only resolve the exterior. Open up your gas and look at all of the different "interior" components such as the locking mechanism on the left side.
The rear of the car is relatively easy compared to the front. I'm not 100% sure what it's like on the GT3R, however on the RSR the front end (ducting, radiator placement, the bonnet, brake cooling, etc…) is completely different from the street car.
Good luck.

I agree...I was just thinking in order for the front aero to work properly Orbit will have to get all the radiator placement and ducts just right. That would be a big deal for me....it's all in the details.....not just look correct but the aero must work correctly too like on the race car. That is major.

Yes, the front end is getting a lot of custom pieces. For example recreated and modified head light holding pieces that are on the car, but not CUP car.
Amdevo, just e-mail Rodger@orbitracing.com or call. He is looking for the 4.0 canards for me when they show up at PET I guess.
