Smile RS 4.0 No PTS

It stays as an '11. I've known my dealer for 15 years and 7 cars. I believe him for sure. The car will look awesome in either black or white.

Dealer says September PTS and on will be for '12s, not the 4.0.

Red face

Anyway, I won't give up my spot for the black 4.0 to find out if they will be called '12s after September.

I think PTS is usually date dependent not model, i.e they offer PTS after the August factory holiday ... I think its too easy for a dealer to say "no" ... without
actually checking with the factory.

I had my dealer check twice and they keep coming back no. My guy is an ex PAG employee so I am reasonably confident he knows where to go with the question. That said, I still haven't given up and pulled the trigger on white.

Independent of the PTS question, has anyone confirmed that they will class the post Sept cars as '12s ?

Well, it's as clear as mud. Here's from Porsche "ProductNews 15/2011, VM.5":

Model Year

The new 911 GT3 RS 4.0 will be launched on a market-specific basis with left-hand drive and right-hand drive vehicles as from 07/2011 (POS). In all offered markets, the vehicle will be available as MY B (2011). Th approval regulations valid in the USA and Canada with respect to OBD II with end of production in 12/2011 are a decisive factor for offering the vehicle as MY B (in the current Porsche model year C).

Note
Due to country-specific approval regulations, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 will be type-approved and offered world-wide as MY B (2011). This applies to the technology, type approval incl. chassis number as well as other product-specific content. The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 will also be listed correspondingly in all sales and communication documents as MY B (2011).

However, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 will actually be produced in Porsche production model year C (2012). In order to ensure that the resultant internal Porsche processes run smoothly, particularly with respect to the part systems (incl. production), the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 will be listed in these systems as MY C (2012).

Internally '12s; externally '11s. Crystal clear.
