Default Cracked windshield

Had a DE last weekend and ended up with crack in the windshield. Held of replacing the windshield as I went to the track again yesterday. Ended up with a second crack.

Never had cracks from tracking my Carrera. Cayman or my older M3's before. Just luck or are the GT3 windshield's somewhat fragile?

Some (most?) insurance companies will repair the windshield for free give or take a $50 deductible or, in the case of AllState, free.
The windshield plastic screens are not DOT (AFAIK) and cannot be used with the wipers.

If you have full cage it better be bolt in otherwise u can forget about having the antenna hooked up for radio signal again.

My wipers work just fine And who cares if the protective screen is approved or not, if it keeps your windshield intact, right? so much stuff is not approved and we use it anyway...By the way, it's perfectly form-fitted and nearly impossible to notice.
+1!!

PM me too please.

I had great stuff on my car, lasted 1 year 30 track days and it got pretty beat up. It was impossible to tell I had protection. now I replaced it but it bubbles and distorts vision slightly.

Problem is I can't find the original installer.

The wipers are a problem -- unless the plastic is clean and wet, the wipers will pick up grit and scratch the plastic. Looking through plastic is I guess an acquired taste. Until you're driving into sunlight with a dry, dirty windshield. And removing bugs requires a solvent, not the typical nylon squeegee thing. In some ways, I think we have accept some wear and tear.

Mine never scratched from wiping and they wiped fine. We wipe a lot in South Florida.

It looked shotblasted from track use, but just like my last windshield did. I could not tell there was any film on mine. I wish i could find the guy that put it on. I have 3m now and you can see distortions. But acceptable to me.. I have not wiped the m3 much.

The windscreen used in the 997 2007-2011 GT3s is the same windscreen used in the 997.1 2005-2008 Carrera and 997 2007-2009 Turbo/GT2. It's not lighter.
