for those who were wondering # 2 is blue turquoise.. the combination of the lighting in the photos, and your monitor really don't do # 2 or # 3 justice.. there are a couple of riv blue gt3s out there,, but this is the only blue turquoise one I could find:
this one really has me scratching my head, I wish I could have both...

and they got a new roof skin from the dealer, made a mold from it, and made one out of carbon fiber to install on my car..

normally I would agree with you, but this will be like a factory paint job, the body shop is first class, they took everything out of the car, motor, interior, etc..

the car is a RS, so you will want to paint it the brightest most outragous of the 3 colors.
#3 will be it.
flashy attention getting colors are how the RS was ment to be displayed both road and track.
just like the green and orange 997.1 models.
These porsches for some reason just love in your face color.
Dont let the RS disappear in the back ground of a porsche show with a subtle color.....

The three paint samples look bloody terrible. #3 Riviera looks like a pastel -- so my color-corrected 30 inch Apple Cinema display says "no go." Of the three, #1 looks like the 964 in your .sig ... and with that, I'd say go drive either of those cars and not pay a local paint shop to destroy a 911. Seriously, don't do it, it's idiotic. If you want a CF roof (first, install a fully welded cage) but then, sure, rip off the tin lid and put in the CF panel, but don't paint the whole car.
Nothing personal, but of all the ways to spend $10-20K on a 911, changing the paint tint is the least useful.

you are correct, it is a peculiar situation.. I sort of inherited the car as it sits.. it started out as a GT3, the PO purchased RS quarter panels, full exhaust, welded in a roll cage, etc etc.. (but project was never completed)
However, I do not agree that painting the car is damaging it.. these people know what they are doing, when the project is complete, the only way you will know that it is not factory paint is by looking up the build sheet from the VIN...
The car is a mess, I'm working on making it something I like, and since it is going to need almost a full paint job, keeping the car black was not an option for me.. I have no plans to resell it.. I'm going to keep it and use it for a DD for a while..
I agree that the spray cards don't look great in the sense that there is a lot of trash in the paint, but the colors in real life are spot on.. Like I said, the lighting was no good, and there was no sun today.. so they don't look great in the pictures..
btw, the 964 in my sig is baltic blue, it is also sitting in the same shop, I got hit by a furniture delivery truck a while back, that is also going to need some major work..

#2 reminds me of the M3 blue color, seems flat and too dark to me, I like smurf/gulf light blue. My favorite color, I've seen a mexico blue RS in person and it is the nicest Porsche color I've ever seen:

I found Baltic Blue in this thread:

I think Estoril Blue is interesting, too.
Is this a 997.1 RS that needs paint or a GT3 that will end up with RS panels? A black 3.6 RS is pretty rare. Sounds like you're in a "good" situation for a project.
