What's typical labor time on Time Serts for the calipers?

Didnt you say they gave you estimate of 1-1/2 to 2 hours for whole thing? 5 means you got screwed. It is a multi step process, but should have been within your estimate. I make sure when doing it that I go deeper and use longer Timesert than really required. Just in case you use a longer bolt in the future...

FYI, it's really only the top bolt that gets stuck. there is a pocket machined in the wheel carrier through which the caliper bolt protrudes. it's possible for water to pool in this pocket. it corrodes the end of the steel caliper bolt. then, when the bolt is removed, the corroded portion is pulled into the aluminum threads & they gall.
this can be prevented by applying a moisture barrier at this pocket, i.e. some RTV silicone to protect the tip of the caliper bolt from the elements.
