Default 997 gt2 mk1 suspension upgrade to mk2

Is it possible to retrofit the original shocks and springs of the mk2 to the mk1 version? If you know the estimate cost it would also be great.

MK1 and MK2 chassis are the same.

Everything is interchangeable.

For the cost of the MK2 shocks, plus labour, why bother? It is not all that different.....

You are best to spend the money on decent upgrade shocks as opposed to OEM.

^+1 Why replace with OEM when you could go with something better?

True! I have to agree with the previous statements.

If you like the PASM function then go with Bilstein Damptronics. If you like more hardcore and manual adjustment go with JRZ, Moton or Ohlins for pretty much the same or a little more cost.

Do it once, do it right

The main reason I'm considering the mk2 suspension is to get the nice ride on rough roads the mk2 suspension delivers while still delivering the same suspension performance as mk1.

I will research on the bilstein damptronics, that might be the upgraded version of the mk2 suspension.

Thanks.

I havent found the MK2 shocks to be that much more compliant on rough roads over the MK1.

Not sure the Damptronics (who came up with that name!) are an upgrade for a .2 ... but might be for a .1 ...

I actually think the .2 is a much better ride than the .1 PASM normal...

but then you, or your suspension mechanic, needs to know about the effects of (changes in) the various settings on the handling of your car... answers on a postcard please...

one thing to consider if you do this is a potential difference between the .1 and .2 shocks and controllers ... it would be good to check to see if the PASM controllers are the same between the two cars ...

True There are infinite possibilities with adjustable coil-overs. It all depends on why the OP is looking for an upgrade.

jlasuncion: I am kind of confused, what car do you have?Is it a 997 mkI GT2? Then I believe you may need a suspension from a wide body car

For the OP, there is nothing on the market that will give a better ride on the street.

if you want something to handle the bumps and potholes, you will need a custom valved shock modified for travel, rebound, compression etc....

this would be $$$ and a pain in the *** to locate and tune.

@sin911
Right now I have a euro 996 GT3 mk1 but Im considering a 997 gt2 mk1 so Im researching about retrofitting the mk2 suspension, having driven several gt3 and gt3rs mk2s and found their ride on normal mode to be very nice and a lot better than the 997 gt3 or gt2 mk1s I have driven.

Regarding suspension setup beyond oem GT models, our tracks here are not as smooth and dont demand a harder setup. The MPSC or Neovas or Corsas are also the best tires for our conditions so stock suspension is more than up to it plus I need more track time to maximize the cars potential first.
