The seat design is explained by a new parts-bin engineering project, code named "Das Sporran" resulting from the VW acquisition of a Scottish kilt manufacturer.

The closest I can get is a Golf GTI which is on my shopping list as a DD! Hows the room in the second row with a 2 dr John? Enjoy! Chuck

They used the same cloth like in the original Gti 30 years ago..

I will quote this for the fabric..

"There's also more modern door trim that you might be forgiven for missing, and the tartan cloth seats, the nostalgic inclusion of which was so welcome in the Mk V GTi, have gone contempo too. It still looks great, and retains a fairly obvious reference to VW's past, but reminds you that as time marches on, so must mock-Jock upholstery.."

True they try to be creative and drop the plain monochrome pattern for something more funky that usually looks terrible..

That car would be the most fun driving around santorini , especially down to oia. I had a Daewoo Matiz rental car and it sucked!
No lag for this one, at least none in my test drive. Maybe the test drive car is a special version for the press and customers ala Ferrari : )

Porsche didn't even get in the top ten? Surprised the DFI got beat out by the M3's V8
The DFi took the best new engine award in 2009.

Yes this red was the only one there and without the led strips that btw look terrible , and you know that you can't have a manual gearbox in this GTi.. but perhaps you are right, I will soon find out..

This Polo has almost the size of the Golf 5 and weighs 120kg less and still got 5 stars in the crash tests..

Top Gear's title was "VW shrinks Golf GTI...

...creates Polo GTI, the hot hatch for the slightly smaller human"
lol

but the truth is that I fit in it fine, and rear room appears to be similar to the previous Mk5 3-door Golf.

Entertaining review. The Polo makes the Golf look like a Cadillac. And over 45 mpg is quite an achievement (it's best fuel consumption is almost as good as the average our dear, old '05 Prius delivers on every tank fill ... and continues to have the local dealer suggesting we get the alignment checked because of the "unusual" tire wear ...)

Nice car for my daughter, if we got it here. I would love to see the Audi RS3 for the U.S. but probably won't happen.

The dear Prius.. I think I will refrain from commenting.. : )

The performance of this engine together with the excellent consumption is the main reason that this car killed the completion in the category.

And as you would expect it also killed Golf Gti sales.
It is, at least here, 10k cheaper has half the tax per year and half the insurance premium.

I don't understand why the don't import it there.

But I am under the impression that things will change; The Smart arrived, (without the decent turbo engine) Fiat launched the 500. Electric cars have a long way to go before they become practical. (if ever)

About the Audi and as an old S3 owner , I have to tell you that the hype is unjustified and probably exists there because you never had the cars . The first S3, besides the excellent motor and build quality, was a terrible car (heavy, under-steered, a haldex 4wd system that was neither a 4wd nor a front wheel drive, bad brakes, compromised rear suspension design), the newer 2.0L version is better but still not good enough to buy..

[B]EDIT: update .. CAR is SOLD Jim was right..
