It the rear main leak leak only on the 997.1 or is it also a problem with the 2nd generation 997?

^u forgot to mention your 5-6 6gt3's u had had ^no rms : ). Your 997.1's is a different story. But ^all gt3 variants are prone to rms leaks. Mike

I am getting my 08 RS with 7000+miles serviced by a local race shop and I have both front and rear leaks. Luckily, I'm still under warranty for about 5 more months.

The 996 Turbo seal, reversed, in my case was not a solution; hence, replacing the seal once again.

Don't sweat small amounts of leakage. Had the RMS replaced twice on my '04 GT3, still eventually leaked again. On my '08 RS, no leaks until about 2 years old, now minor leakage. However, after track weekends there is NO leakage whatsoever for at least two to three months. With street driving, also no leakage if the car is driven frequently above 5K RPM's on the tach. Bottom line, these cars are designed to be driven fairly hard; do so and the RMS is not an issue. Best.
