Just for the record, Simon Patrick replaced Röhrl on that 2010 race at the Nürburgring. Walter was suffering from back problems. "In a partnership between Porsche and German magazine Sport Auto, racing drivers Roland Asch and Patrick Simon were joined by writers Chris Harris and Horst von Saurma behind the wheel of the car". z356

Road & Track did a great "showdown" test on this a couple months back... (not RS and not Cup either, but you get the idea)

Here's a direct link to the track speed/time comparison of all the cars:

Of course the Porsche street car was closest to race car in the comparison group!

Will do, if I can get a seat in there! Keeping the 6-RSR; 7 RSR coming in the next few weeks...... Without restrictors, truly a cup car on steriods.....

I'd love to see the RSR and RS at Daytona as well, vs the current Cup car. For a bit of perspective, the fastest normally aspirated 911:
1996: 1.57.8 3.8 RSR
1998: 1.57.1 3.8 RSR (the fastest GT2 turbo was 1.51.8)
2003: 1.53.3 GT3RS
2011: 1.48.4 GT3 Cup
So where to the (faster) GT3RS and RSR run (the race versions, on slicks)? Pretty close to 98's GT1 times, I'd wager, mid 1.40's....

i suspect a 997.2RS with aggressive alignment, slicks, muffler delete, seats, carpet removed and carbon doors would show the rear bumper to most 996 CUPs...... with equal drivers of course....
Impressive for a car with title, A/C , CD, pwr Windows and cup holders!
