What's the purpose of this center section ?
I understand that bypass pipes eliminate the center muffler to increase the sound, but why change the stock center muffler for one that looks almost the same, except the tips ?
Or is the inner design completely different ?

Great price!
This would make an interesting setup together with a set of proper cats and eliminating completely the side mufflers.
Under 110db I guess, lightweight and smoke legal.
GLWTS!

I have discussed this with 2 reputable tuners and have also gotten an input from a P. dealer with moderate size motorsport service, they all recommeded against replacing the OE cats, especially if the vehicle is to be driven on a closed circuit. Reason being that all the aftermarket cats will eventually fail and cause faulty codes...I can PM you the name of the tuners if you wish.

The ideal set up would be: headers-> 200 CEL Cats-> straight to this center piece. Less restrictive, the correct amount of back-pressure and the result; huge weight savings, some bhp gains (if any) and one glorious sound!
