997 gt3 front splitter ? car parks ?
hi guys,
i am looking at purchasing my dream 911 ..a 997 gen 1 gt3
..my apartment has an underground car park with a steep approach
and i am concerned about the ground clearance.
have any gt3 owners had issues with scraping the front end in these situations ?
thanks for any advice.

Yes, you will have problems. You may be able to mitigate by your approach angle. Some dips or slopes are impossible to negotiate without scraping.
The splitter is a "wear item" though and easy to replace.

There is a front lift option available on the 997.2 GT3's that will give you about 1.5 inches, but, Kevin is right, the front end is LOW.
Don't know if the lift option was available on the 997.1's

all you need is a CUP splitter. They are cheap and super flex-able. You can also trim them with a utility knife so they are not as low.
keep the stock expensive splitter in your storage for when it comes time to sell the car.
You should be fine.

That's a good idea. I've been wondering about this as well.

Got a good place to order the Cup Splitter from?

When I test drove the GT3 a few days ago, I asked the dude if I could test it on my driveway. Sure enough, scrapes every time.
Tell me more about this thing you call a cup splitter. What sort of cups does it split and where can I get one?

it is a motorsport part, it is a little cheaper than the street car part, you can get it from FVD.us or GMG racing amongst others ... its easy to intsall ...
another alternative is to retrofit the bilstein/cargraphic front axle lifting suspension system.

They look the same, the CUP splitter is a about 1" deeper, a bit softer and more flexable.
Instead of trying to avoid scraping, I try to scrape it as hard and often as I can only to show who's boss ;-).
Never replace it unless it has pieces missing, it adds character to the car. And never ever paint them

The splitter comes two ways.
With air vents, or without.
Here is a picture of the splitter without vents.
These things are quick release. I always take it off for transport on truck or trailer.
You can loop these to fit in your luggage. I kid you not.
