What DD complements a 997.2 GT3?

VW toureg works well too...since you listed small suv's
maybe get a diesel. Good for towing!

A base VW Golf is quite entertaining. The thing is, people mostly suggest the hottest possible alternative, thus the R32. But I agree, if one already has a fast car like a GT3, one does not need another to compete with it. The std 5 cyl 2.5l gas Golf (2-door preferred) is quite nice as a DD and an excellent counterpoint to the GT3.

2011 Base Cayenne, if you can find one. If you cannot find one in inventory, you can order one, and if you keep the options low, sticker is less than $55K.

For daily driving, I prefer my '08 Cayenne S. I love the engine in my '07 RS, but the one thing it doesn't have is low end torque. The low end torque of the V8 engine makes the car feel faster than it is, especially at street legal speeds. In addition, the quite cabin and wonderful handling make this car a perfect daily driver. I opted for PDCC and am amazed how little body roll there is...and all I drive is windy mountain roads. The turbo is overkill, the V6 underpowered, the V8...just right. The '11 models have much to offer in creature comforts over the prior generation.

I am currently in a 2010 Lexus IS-F. It was the one car compromise for the wife and I. I can't do it - so I'm going for the 997.2 GT3 and a DD that I have not decided upon.
I wanted to ask what you guys have as the DD? I am looking for something practical, good value, great if it was AWD, low maintenance costs, reliable and good on gas. Doesn't need to be any fun at all.
Suggestions are most welcome. Some thoughts:
BMW X3
BMW X1 (due out soon)
Lexus IS 250 AWD
Lexus RX
My wife hates Audi's so I can't do an A4/Q5, etc. Would love to hear everyone else's thoughts!

They are small enough for beating around the city day to day and large enough to pack your gear and head to the mountains in the winter.....
Anything else is excessive are far a SUVs are concerned....
And dont bother with another car......

Small and fun: Mini Cooper S (even better if John Cooper Works edition).
Fun and practical: BMW X1.
Practical and svelte: BWM X5.
Practical, svelte and able to tow your GT3: Touareg Diesel (the new X5s have some issues re. towing).
If money is no object then I don't think there is much to decide on - buy whatever car(s) you happen to like at the moment.

Wow - some great input (never thought about R32, WRX)! Thanks everyone for their input.
Sadly, I forgot how upside down I am on the Lexus IS-F lease. I am 3 months into a 4 year lease and obviously will need to cut a big check to get out of it (like $8-$10K big,...). So, I guess I won't be moving into anything else for a long while (that delta between lease balance and depreciation will continue to shrink over time),... be dumb to cut this check and lease a car with half the payment with a big downgrade,...
I went and checked up how the IS-F does in the snow,... http://my.is/forums/f136/f-snow-403062/.
For the little traction this car has on rain with superb Michelin PS3's,... I am VERY doubtful about this car in the snow.
tcsracing1 - I was leaning towards an X3 as I am closing on a place at the Pan Pacific Lodge in Whistler this week.

Camry hybrid.....seriously. Had my 08 as a DD and the damn thing would not quite. Not one problem with that car. Brakes were still at 35% and went through 1 1/2 sets of tires...that's it! Well, besides the normal oil changes. If you want a 2wd car, that one works well getting 37 mph average. Not bad at all for a nice size car.
4wd - Subaru Forrester or infinity G37X 4 dr. The subaru just does everthing well as a DD. The G37x does the same, but is just a nicer environment.
