And Peter, that would be really cool. I would be very interested in test fitting your wheels on my car in your garage or mine.......i guess yours would be more convient for you.......I live in Plantation
My shop and wheels are in Boynton.
I am loading the trailer this afternoon to go to Barber tomorrow morning

NJGT knows about fitting wheels tires for sure. I sent you PM.

David,

I am running 255/18 and 315/18 A6's on 8.5 and 12x18 wheels and have -3 in front and -2.5 rear and no rubbing or wear problems. BTW-2007. I am also using a 5mm spacer in the front and the stock spacer in the rear.

I installed the GMG bars front and rear on Rad's recommendation. Very happy with the setup and looking forward to this year.

Talk to Strano at the first event. Saw you are signed up. He co-drove my car last year at the NE Regional's against Junior and did OK. Car is definetly set up better now then when he drove it.

Good luck this weekend.

Stu

David, you will need to work with the wheel manufacturer to get the proper offset for 18x10 front wheel (annoying CL wheels), at the back you need to run a 18x12 with 1/4" less aggressive offset, so you can run a 335/30R18.

At the front the 285/30R18 fits with the following modifications: rotate the strut stops, run -2.5 negative camber or more but with the .2 GT3 less camber is used in the front, roll the front fenders, push out the front fenders. With no modifications you can run the 255/35R18, which is 1" narrower, but that will require a 315 in the back, because a 335 is too much of a staggered setup for autoX.

Given that you treat your GT3 like a puppy dog on life support, I would suggest you stick to 9"/12" x 18" on 255/315.

The car is slower on 19" due to the tall 2nd gear, I went through the same with the Cayman S when I switched from 19" 265/295 to 18" 285/285.

Joe has a Cayman R arriving shortly and it will immediately go to Scott's shop to be made into a race car. Full immersion for a new Porsche enthusiast!
I stand corrected he was complaining that the rain @ ORP didn't slow down the guys from Canada and the Wet Coast....
Polar Porsche and I met Joe at Spring Mountain last weekend where it was low 30's and raining Saturday morning....just like home only warmer Track was incredibly slippery; I spun on the warm up lap going 10MPH. R's don't like the cold at all....

Hey Stu.....would love to talk to you.....pm me your cell#.

Interesting that you didn't go with a 9" wheel.

I am thinking of going to 18's but the only issues are....

1) already have an extra set of relatively uber expensive stock OEM wheels.

2) 18's would slightly lower the car and give me more trouble getting on and off trailer.

3) How much gear would I really get.....A6 Hoosier 315/19 is 26.1 tall while 315/18 is 25.6 tall.....so maybe another almost 2% better gearing....not a huge difference right ?

4) Is my -2.7 neg front camber too much ?

----------------------------------------------------
Right now my car pulls very slightly less lat g's than my ASP (relatively small tired C5Z06 that I used to have 295/18 front 315/30 rear....weighing 2880 without me, and a very small amount of fuel....GT3 must weight about 300 lbs more)

My car feels very good at the moment.....biggest problem is pulling out of a slow corner in 2nd gear....like at 30 mph. How much would the 2% help.....a bit I guess....and a 255/18 vs a 235/19 would also help......just getting on and off trailer more of a pain........

what to do.......what to do......

And Stu...how was your car set-up when Strano drove it ?

And what surface, and type of course was it where you had the divisional where Strano drove it ?

What was Strano's feedback to you ?

(boy I sure do have a lot of questions for you)......thanks....

David
