Default Will a set of track wheel fit inside the 997.2 GT3RS??

I am new on this forum and new to Porsche. My GT3RS will arrive in mid March. I searched the forum but could not find an answer if a set of 18" wheels (with tires) would fit into the GT3RS somehow.
For example, two to the back, one on the passenger seat, one in the trunk.
I live about 24miles from the local track and used to carry my set of track tires in my e92 M3.
I do not want to drive on H R-6 or BFG-R1 to the track, but cannot use a trailer since most of the time I do only a morning session on the track (almost every Fridays) and have to go back to the hospital where the trailer would be very cumbersome.
Thanks

I'm sorry but they will not fit... Especially with tires!

I tried it and failed miserably. Even though I managed to fit 19 inch wheels w/o tires (2 in the back, 1 in passenger seat and 1 in frunk)

If it's only 24 miles, you can drive it to the track with those wheels/tires.

Thanks, my problem is that I have to drive to the hospital from the track and then home. That would be about 30 or so miles mainly on highway. I am just worried if -let's say - starts to rain for the afternoon.

You're at the top of the slippery slope. Just bite the biscuit and go buy a pickup truck and a trailer right now...problem solved. Will save you years of pain and you'll end up there anyway

and Thanks,

I am thinking about a trailer since I am planning to visit tracks further away. I just got used to the convinince of a very close local track, a 4h session in the morning and get back to work. A truck / SUV with a trailer will not fit in the hospital parking garage.
A small trailer just for the wheels.. on the other hand.. I don't know. I have to say they look wierd somehow. Either that or a roof rack. Or take out the passenger seat!
Anyone tried without the passenger seat??

You really are best off using Sport Cups for your ventures.

That being said, yes, you can squeeze 4 wheels with tires in a RS.
NJ-GT pioneered this concept back in 2008.

You can expect trouble with local law enforcement however if they see this.

If you search the forum hard enough you will find NJ-GT's solution to squeezing these wheels and tires in your car.

If it can be done on a 996, it can be done on a 997 - search NJ-GT he did it - you have to remove passenger seat and have no rollbar - the front truck is not used.

Cheap alternative, is getting the porsche roof rack and putting 2 on top for the short trip.

Next step is $9k for a 950# open Trailex with surge brakes that all in will weight less than 4500#s that can be towed by your existing SUV with limited investment in a hitch

It goes higher from here until you end up with an F1 setup and a crew.

That explains how I was saying you can't while keeping the seats.

I have a rollbar so it's too late for me anyway...

I like the F1 setup idea! The crew would be so cool! Especially the umbrella girls!!
On the other hand a private track with a nice garage would also solve the immediate problem. Since all these preferable solutions has a relatively low probability I will stuck with trying to fit the wheels inside - likely give up - then get some small utility thing behind the car and kinda make a fool of myself with it.

In my 6GT3 with a roll bar and GT3 seats I couldn't get a single tire into it. Plus it's not only tires; for the .2 you need the 10' torque wrench plus jack and if you really want to be cool a set of Jack Point stands because you need to have the car in the air to torque the center lock wheels properly. Then there's the driving suit and helmet and Hans device and spanky driving shoes plus plus plus it never ends. AND you're in one of the fastest cars on the planet on a race track you really should put a proper bar and seats into it and wear all of the above safety equipment.....hate to be the one to point it out but you're hooped...buy the trailer Mooty is the resident expert on how to get all this past your wife....

become friendly with a local that has a trailer... pay him to haul your wheels and borrow all his tools... that's what all the freeloading leeches in my area do :-)

Don't crash and then you will not need to go to the hospital!
