I chose the 10 GT3 because it will see 7500-10000 miles of street driving + 10-15 track days a year.
I paid a little under $105k, 2000 miles, not many options. The only regret I have is not having the front lift. I didn't want PCCB etc.

if looking at either 997.1 GT3 or 997.1RS, the RS is only worth the extra $$ to the buyer if they prefer sunroof delete and wide body look.
to date, in GT3 the only way to get a wide body is buying the RS trim in 07, 08, 10 and 2010 CUP.
the hard decision is between used 08RS and 2010 GT3 on used market.
they can be had for approx same price.
Just something about the 07-08RS, i wouldnt trade it for a 2010GT3 non RS.

I'd take the faster, better car with longer warranty.

For me it'd be no question the '10 GT3, but I'd be 95% street.
I'm still probably 2 years of depreciation away from swapping, but it doesn't stop me from cruising AutoTrader and dreaming.
DD GT3 RD's car is a heck of a good deal if you're a fan of grey (I am).

here is the funny thing....
A 07-08 GT3RS owner wouldn't do an even trade for a 2010 GT3
And a 2010 GT3 owner wouldn't do an even trade for 07-08 GT3RS.
clearly the 2010 has the 3.8 advantage, but alas the RS moniker does funny things to its owners.....

You can't go wrong either way.
I would choose the 997.2 GT3. As other have said it best: "buy latest and greatest". Having an Orange on Black 997.1 GT3, it was a fantastic machine - but I got too much unwanted attention with it. There are enough Porsche 997's where I live and the GT3 slightly stands out (only to the enthusiasts). However, if you want the bling - the RS is the way to go with the widebody, decals, and god - did I ever love the rear wing!
