Default snow damage?

i just drove over snow in middle of road and now an underbody piece of plastic(?) to the inside of the drivers side front wheel is scraping on the ground. there is a similar piece on the passenger side that is ok.

any idea what it is and can i just cut the scraping part of it off rather than what im sure will be an expensive repair?

thanks

if its a brake duct - repair it, its around $35-100 of plastic depending upon model etc ... otherwise its probably just some of the underbody airlfow smoothing/management plastic ... which again is not THAT expensive ... I'm **** ... I'd fix that too ...

inboard of the brake rotor (brake duct), or on the underside of the car behind the wheel well (airflow smoothing/management)?

seems like behind the wheel well so i will guess airflow smoothing management.

I seem to recall there is/was a small "flap" behind the front wheel on the underbody that I think is designed to divert any 'dirty' air from the wheel/well
out from under the body ... this is what you have probably torn ...

not critical ... but worth replacing.

Yes that's me back in '07 when I collected my previous '07 from the factory, I think this was the Manthey customer day ... the picture is at the 1st apex into
brunnchen after a long downhill so you carry a lot of speed there and its off camber too...

Theo and Heide will treat you well, I'd recommend you get Theo to take you out for some instruction (if its your 1st time he will probably do so anyway).

Also, I recommend (to heighten your experience *and* greatly improve your chances of not crashing) download a bunch of lap videos from youtube or the like and load them onto iPod/Pad and watch them ad nauseum until you can
visualize the track ... also find a copy of the AutoSport Nordschleife .pdf ...

I have one but it exceeds the upload limits for RL ... otherwise it would be
attached here ...

you might also ping the lists as there are a number of RLers local that can act
as a track guide!

let the car thaw out incase it is a chunk of ice. it will just melt away.
if it is the brake duct plastic snap on piece then not to worry. they are disposable and grind off with time.
You can put the car on a jack and wrangle it off with elbow grease.

I personally am not a fan of such tools as a way to learn the track and line despite there simulation of the physics of the real world I don't think they teach you the line and in fact lull you into dynamics that will get you into real trouble...

Actually seeing the realtrack and line allows you to see it for real and commit it to memory allowing you to spend more concious time behind the wheel understanding the subtle nuances of the track YMMV
