I think the rules need treadwear rating of 140 or higher...

AD08 is better than the PS2 in the dry but PS2 wins in the wet. AD08 only goes to 295 section width but it is a very wide 295.

A little history. I watched the dominant car in 08 "Hennesy Viper ACR" driven by a very good driver blow the chance for the win by not doing well on the wet skid pad. Even if you say to yourself I am just doing the OLOA for fun I guarantee when you start the event the competition mode will kick in. Also you are going to be running against well driven AWD GT-r's Evo's 997TT etc who should be good in the wet. However a RWD Porsche can do well in the wet if set up properly. In 08 "6GT3" we ran 2nd in monsoon rains @ TMS with only the Viper in front and a lot of AWD sucking wind. In 09 "6GT2" we smoked the 2 GT-r's in Monsoon conditions @ Little Talledega in the morning session.

Before ordering the Corsa system I would highly recommend checking with Brock or Tire Rack as I believe in the past it has been on the exclusion list.

A well driven .2GT3RS can run at the front and depending on the fallout of the top cars could be in contention for the win.

85 Gold, great insight. With Leh Keen coming back this in a race preppred GTR + a supposed 6 other professional drivers, I have no illusions of grandeur! However, PS2's are probably the way to go. Are you running this year?

Leh's car has to hold together and he is modding it heavy. Don't worry about pro drivers. Over the years a lot have shown up and very few have done well. You have to FAASSST out of the box on tracks you have never driven. Sort of like AutoX. It took Leh's 3rd time to win. Right now I would say that it will be Leh and Catesby Jones gunning for the win based on current entry list.

Are you planning on driving any of the tracks before the One Lap. I will be @ Barber in March with Alabama PCA along with Catesby and Andy Hollis, 89 CRX SI with a K24 swap

I want to but my Co-driver has some family health issues that he needs to worry about so if we run it will be a last minute decision in the Bone Stock 6GT3.

Has anyone tried the Trofeo? Looks like a good tyre. But I also like the Corsa!

Looks like only option is PS2's. Super Sports don't have the rear tire size yet. Two questions:

1) PS2's in 325/30/19 size only come in run flat, what's the performance trade-off, if any?
2) Can any other rear tire size be used other than 325/30/19 in the rear?

Suggestions welcome.

Gotta go with 18's then you can run either

315/30 25.5" diameter or 335/30 25.9" diameter rear
245/35 24.8" diameter or 255/35 25.2" diameter front

Pretty much tire availability and usually 18" tires cost a little less than 19" tires.

I did the OLA back in 2003 in an M Coupe and it was a riot. I hope that you have the axle lift system 'cos you'll be driving all over the place. When I did it they even had a dirt track oval to run on.

I am planning on doing it next year in my '10 GT3, once I get more familiar with it at the track over the next year or so.

I'll track (!) your progress with interest this year. Please let us know if you are going to Blog daily and how we find your Blog.

Carl.

If you take the "have to finish to win" mentality - the Corsa system gets my vote.

I'd go PS2, very good grip in dry and very good grip in wet for a 140+ rated tire.
Toyo's are out.

When is the One lap?
Always wanted to do it. I'd take the wife's car, fast comfy and it already has PS2's. We're good at running cross country or long distance fast, but I'm bad at being fast at a track out of the box. I build up slowly...

How many practice laps do you get? First time Barber Saturday, let's see how fast I can go fast..
