Default Boxster Spyder repair update and advice needed..

So my dash is still estimated to come in at the end of Janurary, which puts me in a rental for the next 30 days paying out of my own pocket. My insurance is willing to have the body shop put the old dash back in with some scratches in the leather, and let me drive the car for the next 2 weeks, and then when the new dash comes back in, take the car back in and swap dashes. Do you think this is worth it or should I just wait the 2-3 weeks and have it done one time?

Personally I'd just do it once ... although since the insurance will cover this maybe its ok ... just seems like a huge PITA to do it!

good luck!

I would wait. You don't know what will happen with the install, takedown, and re-install anyways. Just let them do it right the first time. I know it's a PITA, but it will be less of a PITA if you just continue renting. You're insurance company doesn't seem very accomodating.
Good luck - there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

It's not my PITA in the sense that the insurance company is offering to have the body shop do this so that I don't have to continue paying for a rental. Insurance covered the rental for $25/day up to $750 but it's already been a month and the dash is backordered from Germany and is already being expedited to get here by end of Jan. So in a way the insurance company is trying to offer me a favor, but like you guys have said, just not sure whether I should wait, or have the body shop do the extra PITA work and save $1200 bucks.

I assume you don't have another car?

$1200...hmm...that is a lot for a rental car. That's unfair that you have to pay. On second thought, if you definitely cannot get it covered, getting your spyder back with the old dash is a good option. Save $1200 and get to drive your car...I change my mind.
