Hi guys, I was a regular on the 996 GT3 forum until selling my stripper (what a mistake that was). Ever since I've been considering my options and viewing the 997 GT3 forum regularly.
Does anyone know of a 2011 RS paint to sample allocation available in the US? I've exhausted all my contacts and have not been able to find one. Yes, I'm aware its pretty late to be trying to secure an allocation. The color combination I'm after is Arctic Silver with the Black trim option. I know there are a lot of good used or new cars around but I'm specifically after a silver low option car.
If I can't find an allocation then I'm considering a first generation 997 RS. The car is Arctic Silver/Black, low miles and in perfect original condition. I have read with interest the views on first vs. second generation cars in other posts and would appreciate any comments on which you suggest.
Which ever car I end up with will become a semi stripper and have some modifications for track and Targa events but it will still occasionally be used on the street. I have a 996 Cup which is used for racing so the 997 RS will just be a fun car.
Thanks for any help you can provide in tracking down an allocation and I look forward to your comments.

I thing you are just looking for a build slot. And as far as I know one of the very last slots was just snatched up by one of our very own forum members.
What color were you thinking about? Personally if I had the option myself at the moment I would get Nordic Metallic Gold. Or even Ice Blue Metallic, that is the color that a lot of rennlisters want on their Turbo S since it is a supposed option and Porsche has been saying it was going to be available. But from what I know you still cannot order Ice Blue Metallic even though they said it was going to be available in August or September.
Also, you do know that Paint to Sample is just an option? Not that there are specific build slots with Paint to Sample attached to them?

OP: Given the deludge of cars sitting on the lot, it may be worth considering buying one of the existing inventory out there at a discount and repainting it down the road. Track the car as intended, and when you're tired of it give it a fresh coat. You won't have to go through the paint ***** at PAG at that point (just in case you want a glow-in-dark pink against radioactive green wheels...
) and the all-in cost will be far cheaper.

I am on vacation this week and stopped by Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota Florida yesterday to find a green with black Mark II sitting on the showroom floor. From speaking with the sales associate it was a special order car where the person backed out after the car was delivered. http://www.suncoastporsche.com/New/2...leDetails.aspx

Thanks for the comments. It seems like I have missed the boat for an allocation so will need to forego my preferred PTS Arctic Silver/Black combo. So now its a case of trying to find the right new or used car. There are a few Arctic Silver first generation cars around. With a few tasteful modifications it would be what I wanted. Or if the right second generation car come up, color and low options being the key, I'll grab it.

Yup I would never do dev stitching myself but this is clearly a customer or dealer specced car ... And probably only one of three PTS onshore...
