Default 360 or wait until 430 price comes down more?

Considering a 360 Spyder as a weekend car, since the prices seem to be around 80-100 for a nice one. BUT, the 430 prices will likely continue to fall as time goes on, so should I just wait a year or two? Anyone driven both? Since it won't be a track car, part of me thinks the 360 experience may be just as good for weekend cruising.

Why not just buy it now, enjoy it for two years, then take a 20-30K hit and "upgrade" to a 430?

I have been wanting to buy a 360 Spyder since they came out. I;ve test driven a few, and that engine sound is intoxicating. Go for it - and never look back.

Besides - it might take you some time to find a good one even if you start the search now...

IMHO, the 360 look much better than the 430. I really dislike the 430 and think it's one of the ugliest Ferrari ever made. They fixed it nicely with 458. I do like the 430 interior though.

If you are looking for a manual transmission, there are a lot less 430s available with a standard transmission than there are 360s

As far as dilemmas are concerned this is a good one.

Having driven both models extensively, as far as a driver's car is concerned, I'd pick the 430 by a wide margin (both cars were manual transmissions). Aesthetics are very personal so you will have to decide which you like more in that respect. Several good points made previously, particularly with regard to F1 v. 6-speed manual transmission choice. Based on your stated preferences the 360 might be better of the two.

Please keep us posted as to what you decide.

I've owned 4 360s and 4 430s. The 430 is a much better car in all areas including maintenance costs. Just be sure to do a PPI on whichever model you decide on. Depending on how long you intend to keep the car I would buy a standard 6 speed in either the 360 or 430. If you must have the F1 then make sure the 360 is a very late model 2002 or 2003-2005. Be prepared for enormou$$$$ repair bills if you buy a car that hasn't been maintained properly. I've seen a repair bill of $27,000 to replace the entire F1 transmission in a 430.

I'm sorry but I would have no idea. The good news is that I've never heard of manual tranny needing major repair.

Yes this is true.

For my peace of mind and check book I would never own a modern Ferrari that this out of warranty.

n2cars, why the number of 360s and 430s--was it just our usual fickleness, or were there issues with the cars, or something you learned about what you did and didn't like about the cars?
