Default pulling the airbox from the 3.8

I was looking idly under the engine cover today and noticed (as I recall compared to the .1) that the 3.8 has some additional lines etc around the airbox connector to the intake plenum ...

I wonder if anyone has pulled their airbox out; I see how to safely disconnect the sensor that is clipped to the box, but its not clear how to deal with what looks like a vacuum hose into the rubber sleeve that connects the box to the MAF/plenum ...

any words of wisdom?

Directly from the workshop manual.
"1. Locate hose
2. Pick up the special tool aka titanium fishing pliers
3. Pull "

So I figured out how to unclip the wiring at the "1 o'clock" position on the rubber collar, and I know how to loosen the metal collars around the rubber collar between the airbox and the intake, but that (vacuum?) hose with the steel clip on it has me foxed, and the rubber collar seems unwilling to pull off a either end ...

any thoughts?

You don't need to pull the recirculation hose off. Just loosen the clamp on the bellow on MAF side. Disconnect the MAF harness and pull the airbox out with the MAF attached.

Thanks I had figured that out but the rubber collar is really tight and won't come off the air box ... I am going to try with the engine warm

It should actually push off pretty easily. Make sure the clap is loose and not pinching the boot. Unbolt the airbox, lift and pullback slightly. The MAF should pull right out of the hole. Just don't try to pull the MAF out of the airbox as it is almost impossible to get back in with the seal.
