Default Cold weather track day advice

Considering taking the RS this weekend to the track. Forecast is for a high of 39 and partly sunny. Should I bag it or just make sure to take temps on the tires befor egoing hard. If so what temps should I be shooting for. I'm running MPSC's. Thanks in advance.

windows down -- heat on (I like it on my feet)

know that your tires are going to take longer to heat up and adjust your driving acordingly

once heated, drop the hammer..

hells ya go!

Just go slow as the track will be cold and green, as the day progresses and more cars drive on the track, the better it will get.

Start out with higher temps than a warmer day like 2-5 psi more and check pressures

One thing I woudl do is start the car before your warm up lap and bring the oil to temp......I like to keep my rpm real low before oil is up to temp

Go. Bring Vodka.
The colder the faster the car is, just let the tires come up to temp for an extra couple of laps.

Be SMOOOOTH. Just don't assume there's traction until you test it yourself.
Should be fun. Want to know what I'll be doing on the weekend

good point, always a good thing to do before you do your first laps:

1. Start car and idle for a while (2-5 minutes)
2. drive the car around the paddock or lot or access road to warm up the engine and transmission ( I switch from 1-2-3 and back down for 2-5 minutes).

Once you get the oil temp to 175º, let her rip!

By doing this every track day, you will extend the life of your tranny and engine!

Shoveling snow? Check out the freak of nature that is going to be pounding the Sierra this weekend. 10 inches of moisture - this is gonna be a big one!!

Thanks, I needed to be reminded.

As long as all that moisture is liquid, it'll be fine.

Damn you, I'm in Ontario, where the highest we've got is the Niagara Escarpment, a 300 ft ridge that runs all over the province. All the ski hills are on one side of the escarpment or the other.

Moved here from Calgary in 01. Can you say Lake Louise, Sunshine, Ferniiiiiieeee.
