On Saturday a dealer confirmed the forthcoming RS SE to me. He said he will only get allocated one unit and the dealer's owner has already claimed it for himself. He says 500 HP and roughly 200 grand. Claims this is not rumor, but now confirmed fact. Dump your .2s soon boys.

I think you took the slow line through that turn.

If anything, while 50 hp is nice, for $70K and in limited production, it makes the 2010 RS all the better.

in agreement with mr CGT

this is BS. dealer owners shouldn't be allowed to buy these, unless they really going to drive it. they just buy and flip. other than haywood.... i doubt most of them even know 911's engine is in the back.

i digress. hum.....
if it's rumored 4.0L, and 50 more hp.... higher rpm? shorter engine life? someone with more engineering brain pls chime in.

50 extra HP out of already what is the highest or one of the highest specific HP engines / L in production will be quite interesting...as in they can barely keep hoses and seals working properly on puny little 415/435/450hp variants.

Corrected for the GT3/ RS differences in Europe...

If it makes sense to buy an RS over a GT3, then it makes sense to buy this car over an RS. Or the argument did not hold a year ago, either.

Best, w

Knowing Porsche, they will not just increase HP by 50 without appropriate upgrades to brakes, suspension, and probably aerodynamics. Would not be a big surprise if weight came down as well, using some GT2 RS parts. The end result could well be the most sexy 911 ever, and a true collectible. At anything under $200K the LE RS will be a decent value compared with 2011 RS + some popular mods.

I don't think they will need to upgrade anything. They will change to the GT2 spec bushings etc. The brakes are the same across the GT line anyway, they might make ceramics standard. They need to drop another 100kg under the lighest spec GT3 RS weight and give you at least 50 more hp for it to be worth it. They also need to price it in the $160K range base.

I hope they call it GT3 RSR charge $250k for it, limit the production to 500 units and sell them all.

After all, the Speedster is sold out. They know their market.

This was already covered in German Car magazines some weeks back.....

997 GT3 RS - with 4.0 - 4.2 Liter Engine and approx. 500 HP
Some aerodynamic improvements outside and interior pieces - with focus on carbon fiber...

Will be limited run towards end of 97 production (probably the last 997's that will be made).

Good way of keeping profits up at the very end of a product lifecycle.....
