Default Anybody tried hauling their tires on the roof?

Just curious. I'd love to know if it was even an option with the available roof racks.

Four wheels can be done just barely under the load limit. There's a thread on planet-9 about a guy who hauls his track wheels on his Cayman with a roof rack.

That would be hilarious to see on the freeway, but it would probably work!

Still less goofy looking than our tire trailer, I bet. Nothing prompts the smirks and smiles quite like a Miata with a tow hitch.

And it's got to be more convenient than my current method of hauling track wheels (I can fit three):

That's pretty cool. Wish there was something prefab.

Erik has the perfect setup. I would either do that or get a 45' goose, your call.

LOL, I'd go Erik's way. You don't need room for a beer cooler if you bum 'em.

So if you can fit three wheels in the car, where does the fourth one go???

And what do you think of the OZ Allergrita as track wheels on your RS?

Where did you get that setup?

I've never seen on a hitch on a GT3 before. Very slick.

4 wheels in the car I don't see workinf for you. You need baby trailer.

I'm not opposed to hauling them in the car if they fit. I'd use tire bags myself. I was cringing looking at those pics above with the tire in the front seat

I go to the track by myself so I don't need to worry about a passenger or their luggage. I just don't see how you could get all four in there.

It is the way to go. Erik picked it up used somewhere, you do occasionally see them listed.

The hitch just screws in the tow hook hole in the back. I've seen a few guys drilling a hole in the license plate, so they do not have to remove it to screw in the hitch.

The trailer is really the best route as you can put a small jack and basic tools in it. The hitch screws into the tow-hole behind your plate. Best part when guys like me are lugging bits around and loading the box you can just connect and be off in 60-seconds......
